Understanding your cholesterol
Cholesterol – sounds scary and bad – it is amazing what decades of mainstream medicine and media indoctrination can do. Cholesterol is in reality vital for your health and your body requires it so much it has the capacity to manufacture it if you happen not to eat it. In fact, due to this regulation function of the body it would appear that dietary cholesterol intake has much lower impact than once thought, if you eat less the body makes more, if you eat more the body makes less.
I have posted extensively on the basics of cholesterol in a prior post on blood lipid concentrations – the real story, and I do recommend you take a little time to read that today as it is crucial to understanding the reality of cholesterol and health.
Dr. Hyman’s House Call video on optimizing cholesterol
Dr. Mark Hyman, functional medicine physician and creator of drhyman.com has posted a video discussing 7 Ways to Optimize your Cholesterol on his YouTube channel, which I link to below. This is an 11 to 12 minute video which does a wonderful job of covering the many facets which surround cholesterol and your health.
Rather than having me blather on for a few more paragraphs, I think your time would be better spent watching Dr. Hyman’s presentation. It is well worth the effort and is linked right below this post.
Life is truly a journey as they say, and that goes for knowledge as well. We as a species are constantly learning and refining – the story of cholesterol is the story of this change in a nutshell and demonstrates how important it is for all of us to keep abreast of change. Our current understanding of cholesterol is basically almost the opposite of what we thought four decades ago when I was young.
I posted previously on this concept in lifelong learning for optimal wellness, and I strongly recommend undertaking it. Enjoy the video.
